Halloween Party
4:00pm 31.10.2011
On October 31st, a Halloween Celebration was held at the Kapan American Corner. This American holiday was presented to Armenian school students by Peace Corp Volunteers in Kapan. Ten interested schoolchildren from Kapan schools came to learn new information about the very popular American holiday.
Already experienced in that field a Peace Corp Volunteer carved the pumpkin, then the children painted each other’s faces to become more like animals, monsters and witches. Afterwards, the schoolchildren listened to PCV-s presentation on the history of Halloween, its origin, meaning, how the meaning has changed over time, and their own experiences. The schoolchildren themselves also cited poems about Halloween.
It was a new and interesting experience for them. But best of all, they liked the “trick or treat “aspect of Halloween, which is natural since all children in the world like candy and Halloween may be the best holiday to get a lot of candy…
