American Corners Around the World

On October 1, 2007 at the American Corner Kapan, Public Affairs Section Yerevan held the first in a series of "Americans at the American Corner" presentations.
The first presentation was given by Vienna based Information Resource Officer Bill Middleton who spoke about "American Corners around the World." The speaker introduced participants to the story of how American Corners are established and provided some statistics and guidelines on their resources and services. A demonstration of the Kapan American Corner web page was part of the lecture. The audience, which consisted of English teachers and Peace Corps volunteers, was interested in the resources available in the Kapan American Corner and other program opportunities.
This was an excellent opportunity for Kapan American Corner patrons to learn about the history of American Corners and the relevant resources available to support English language and American Studies programs.
